JewishEncyclopedia.com contains a variety of foreign characters and languages.  We display these characters through Unicode.  If you see any square boxes (⃞⃞) in the test message below, you probably don't have a comprehensive Unicode font installed on your computer.  See the instructions below to install Unicode on your Windows or Macintosh computer

Unicode for Windows
If you are using a Windows operating system, we recommend that you use Microsoft's Arial Unicode MS font. While the font is included for free in Microsoft Office XP, it's come to our attention that several third-party sites have this font available for download. To download the font, visit one of the sites below, save the file to your PC and then run the file (Aruniupd.exe) on your PC. (Note - it is a large file and can take a long time to download.)

Alan Wood's site has information about fonts and Unicode support for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.

Where can I find out more information about Unicode / UTF8?
Probably the best place to start is Alan Wood's excellent Unicode and Multilingual Support in HTML, Fonts, Web Browsers and Other Applications site. Also on the Unicode web site there is a What is Unicode? document that has been translated into many languages.
